Benefits of Polyurethane
Polyurethane is Lightweight. It is much lighter than traditional building materials (wood, concrete, stone and fiberglass) making it fast and easy to install using basic woodworking tools. In most cases, our pieces can be installed without the need to change the substructure of your project. This works beautifully for new projects and remodeling.
Polyurethane is Low Maintenance. Polyurethane resists all environmental deterioration (high heat and low temps) and will not crack, warp, dry out or split like wood. Our pieces are also resistant to all types of destructive bug infestations, including termites, and can be easily painted and/or sanded just like real wood. Basically, polyurethane products are durable and stand the test of time.
Polyurethane is Less Expensive. The cost is no comparison when it comes to our product verses wood (concrete, stone) or other material. Our high-tech system uses low-pressure liquid casting for each custom mould making the process much more cost effective than traditional custom tooling. Thus, polyurethane products are more economical. DO THE MATH! Wood pieces, when exposed to damaging environmental effects such as heat, moisture, and bugs, eventually warp, erode and destroy the wood, making it necessary to replace. Severe heat and cold can even make concrete crack. These same damaging effects do not apply to our product – making is last virtually a life time! Now there is true cost savings.
Economical * Lightweight * Durable = POLYURETHANE
Did you know?
Our polyurethane products help the environment in two ways;
First, most of our pieces are made to look like real wood. What does that mean? Besides the fact that our pieces look great and you can’t tell the difference between a poly piece and a wood piece, it means we are helping to save our natural resources in tens of thousands of polyurethane architectural pieces each year that are customarily made of wood.
We custom make one designer mold for each piece. The mold box is made out of a high quality wood that is hand selected for the best natural wood grain texture. Then a liquid silicone compound is injected into the mould in order to take on the exact custom shape and great wood texture. After the mold is made, we can reproduce this piece hundreds of times out of a High-Density Foam compound to look just like the original wood piece.
Second, one of the components of the HDF is made of 30% renewable energy – sucrose! That’s right, sugar……… in the form of sugar cane or beet sugar. This resource can easily be replenished (grown), at the same rate it is used or faster. Thus, making part of each piece come from renewable energy. Sweet, huh? We just don’t recommend tasting any of it.
